Each desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, as well as any apps that are installed on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, any app runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This goes for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. If a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server plans include three Linux releases which you may choose from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being totally free, the OSs are very stable and secure and the reason to offer the three of them is to ensure that you can run every app that you would like, as different pieces of software could have different requirements about the environment they work on. Each of the three OSs is supported by a vast community of developers who have created a large number of software packages that you can set up and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System which you pick, you will also be able to choose between 3 different Control Panels to control your website hosting content. Of course, in case you decide that you need some other OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the Operating System for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they're cost-free and they will not increase the cost of your new server, but also because they are very stable and secure. Each one of them is supported by a huge community of developers, so you'll be given the option to choose from a large number software packages that you may install on your server if the application that you want to employ has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what web hosting Control Panel you can use as the Control Panels that we offer are compatible with specific OSs only and because we want to give you as much freedom as possible, we offer multiple OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you choose a server with a certain OS, we could change it upon request in the event that it turns out that you will need a different one. We can also keep the OS updated weekly as a part of our optional Managed Services upgrade.
