Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is employed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail, but to appear as being sent from a different one, frequently with the purpose to scam the recipient someway. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a special record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers worldwide get it. The record includes all the email servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When a message is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and when the sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be sent and it'll be removed. If you use this solution, it'll stop third parties from sending spam which appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Hosting

If you host your domain names in a hosting account with us and we manage the emails for them, you are able to activate SPF protection for them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in a section of its own where you will be able to view which domain names are already secured. For those that are not, you will be able to enable the SPF protection option and set up a number of things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and even to set a rule that email messages can be sent only when your domain names have our MX records. The last solution is the most secure one, but it can be used when we take care of the e-mails for your domain names and you're not using another e-mail provider. The newly generated records will propagate within a day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an email with your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function is featured with all semi-dedicated plans, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to use this particular service easily for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a very easy to use interface, so you will not need to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your e-mail addresses. You'll only have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send out e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you have chosen. As an additional option, we also allow you to control the outgoing email messages and protect your mailboxes further by allowing emails to be sent only when the domain name in question contains our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain should be handled here and not by another supplier. By doing so you'll get even superior control and there will not be a chance for somebody to counterfeit your emails for harmful objectives.
