Whenever you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific company. On their end, three records are set up automatically the moment the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain address where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that manages the e-mails for that particular domain address. The website and the e-mail hosting are often regarded as one thing, while they are in reality two different services. Having independent records for them will enable you to have them with different providers if you wish. For example, some new company may have exceptional uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the Internet domain to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the latter, you can get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an e-mail - in either case, the service provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed site or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Hosting

With a hosting package from our company, you will be able to create or change the A and MX records of your domain addresses and subdomains easily via our advanced Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Editing the default records requires two clicks and the setup of a new record requires just a few more clicks, so even though you may have never dealt with such matters, you'll not experience any difficulties. We also have an in depth help section that'll make things even easier. If you would like to change your e-mail provider and you have to set up several MX records in addition to the default two, you can pick their priority i.e. which record will manage your e-mails first when somebody sends you a message. Normally the new provider will tell you what these values should be. With our shared plans, you'll have total control of your domain names and subdomains and you are going to be able to manage their A and MX records effortlessly and at any time.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, provided with our semi-dedicated plans, allows you to see the A and MX records for every one of the domains or subdomains in your account and if needed, to change any of them or set up new ones. Handling these records is very easy since all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes only a few more clicks and if you experience any issues, you can check out our educational videos on how to create A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to offer you complete control over all records and to permit you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're pointing your e-mails to a different provider and they ask you to set up more than two different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
